The Brevity of This Life

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. – Jesus

Our family has received a very vivid reminder of the value and brevity of life.  In the still darkness of early this morning, my wife’s father drew his final labored breath and stepped out of this life into the presence of the Lord.  It was a long and difficult struggle for both him and his family, and all are now blessed that he was able to let go and find relief from his suffering.  Mr. Charles was a fine man, and a good PawPaw.  He will be missed.

I mourn for my wife’s loss.  I, too, know the sorry of losing a parent.  I lost both of mine several years ago.  But the Word of God teaches us that death is an important part of this life.  No one will escape it.  There will come a time when each one of us will breath our last breath and exit this life.  We will all visit the grave, unless the Lord returns to take us first.

But what happens after we leave this life depends upon our standing with God during this lifetime … it depends upon whether or not we have acknowledged Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Meanwhile, this life is short.  It’s too short to waste.  And a life without Jesus is, I believe, a wasted life.  I urge you to trust Him today.  Tell others about Him every day.  And live YOUR life to the full!
